Woodfired Bowls

This is a collection of images of various bowls from woodfireing I have done.

Wood fired pottery is exactly what it sounds like. Pottery fired in a kiln where the fuel is wood. Chords and chords of firewood are "fed" and "stirred" into a kiln to slowly build up a thick layer of ash on the surface of pieces inside the kiln, and then as the temperature in the kiln continues to rise, the ash melts, bonding with the glaze and clay creating unmistakable earthy surfaces, textures, and colors.
